A bare yard around a new build can feel unfinished for a long time. No grass, no structure, just dirt and whatever the natural grade gives you. That's a pretty common situation - and it's exactly the kind of thing we love to sort out.

Here's what we were working with: a newer home set into a hillside, surrounded by pines, with a sloped yard that needed both structure and grass. We came in with fresh sod, clean curbing, and a boulder wall setup that holds the slope and separates the lawn from the natural terrain. The result is a yard that actually functions - and looks the part.

The boulder wall is doing real work here. On a sloped property like this, you need something that holds grade, handles drainage, and doesn't look out of place in a wooded setting. Large granite boulders fit that perfectly. They're natural, durable, and they give the whole space a grounded, intentional feel without looking overly manicured.

The sod ties it all together. A clean lawn from the patio edge to the boulder line gives the property a defined, usable space. Pair that with proper curbing to keep the edges sharp, and you go from a rough exterior to something that actually matches the quality of the home itself. It drains well, it stays green, and it gives the yard a finished look that dirt and weeds never will.

Getting the full package - sod, curbing, and boulder walls - done at once means everything is planned and installed to work together. No piecing things together later. No gaps in coverage. Just a yard that's set up right from the start.
